It’s a topic that brings them to their feet, while some do fear it, it is still an essential tool for mixing. Yes, it’s not as glamorous as other topics but there is a reason for all those meters staying with us until today.
The basic function of these meters is to tell us whether we are above or below the optimal signal level since it is impossible to physically count the electrons traveling through the console or mic.
