What is happening at Home Brew Audio right now?
This page is for telling anyone interested in the goings on at Home Brew Audio what that latest, well, goings on are:).
Christmas just finished and the new year (2017, in case you thought this might be a really old entry:-P) is right around the corner. One of the things we plan to do in the new year is – gulp – increase the prices for our courses. I know, I know but hear me out. Since the courses originally went up in 2009 and 2012, respectively, we have added numerous lessons and videos. The current prices no longer reflect the value of the products. So at some point – I’ll let folks know – the prices will go up. Nothing will be more than a hundred dollars though, so that’s good right?
Also, we’ll be adding even more videos to the current courses, starting with…
The new course – “Harmony Recording Awesomeness.” No, really! You can actually buy it now:). See what it’s all about here:
One thing you should know is that this course contains some material covered in The Newbies Guide To audio Recording Awesomeness. So if you already have those courses, much of the new one will seem familiar to you. If that’s the case, let me know and I’ll refund most of your purchase price:).
What is this course? Well it is for people who love to sing and love singing in harmony even more. But what if you don’t have other singers to harmonize with? Well you sing harmony with yourself, of course! Harmony Recording Awesomeness shows you how to do just that. Of course you can use the same techniques to record yourself singing harmony with other people as well:-P.
The course is also useful for recording engineers and producers who need to add some harmony to their singer’s songs, but don’t have any other singers. If the original vocalist is not available during song mixing/producing, or if that singer is not very comfortable creating or singing harmonies themselves, the techniques in this course can be a solution to that.
You’ll learn the bare basics of audio recording using either the free software called Audacity, or the amazingly affordable Reaper (both programs are taught). Then you’ll learn how to record yourself singing something, and then how to add another version of your voice singing a harmony. then a third version of you singing a 3rd part, a 4th, etc! I would have cut off a body part to have this ability when I was a kid:-P. then you’ll learn how to mix the voices to make them sound extra awesome, like they are coming from all around you. Then – just because several folks have asked – there is also a lesson on how you can use a harmony generating software program (if you must – it’s actually much harder than just singing all the parts yourself!).
We’ll be announcing the course when it is ready!
Note: Our current course – The Newbies Guide To Audio Recording Awesomeness – teaches the basics of audio recording, editing, mixing, and producing a final product. For folks who have already purchased that course, there will be some repetition of content in the new Harmony Recording Awesomeness course.
